Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 28 August 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what businesses may and may not do on the Garmel platform. It forms part of the Terms of Service.

1. Prohibited businesses & content

You may not use Garmel to operate a loyalty program for:

  • Illegal products or services, or services unlawful in the customer's jurisdiction.
  • Adult content or sexual services.
  • Weapons, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia.
  • Gambling, betting, or lotteries requiring a licence you do not hold.
  • Pyramid, Ponzi, or multi-level marketing schemes.
  • Anything that infringes third-party intellectual property rights.

2. Prohibited conduct

  • Sending marketing to customers who have not opted in, or making it hard to unsubscribe.
  • Running misleading campaigns, offers you don't honour, fake discounts, deceptive pricing.
  • Manipulating points, rewards, or referral mechanics to defraud customers or the platform.
  • Uploading malicious code, probing or scanning the platform, or attempting to access another business's data.
  • Reselling, sublicensing, or white-labeling Garmel itself to third parties.
  • Collecting customer data beyond what the platform is designed for, or using it outside your loyalty program without a lawful basis.
  • Offering points or rewards in exchange for online reviews (this violates Google's review policies and consumer law in many jurisdictions).

3. Marketing rules

All campaigns sent through Garmel must comply with the GDPR, the ePrivacy/PECR rules, and any local equivalents: opt-in consent before marketing, clear sender identification, and a working unsubscribe in every message.

4. Enforcement

We may issue a warning, remove content, or suspend a business immediately and without notice for serious breaches, including anything illegal, fraudulent, or harmful to customers or to the platform. For less serious breaches we will normally give you a chance to remedy first. Suspension and data consequences are described in the Business Subscriber Agreement.

5. Reporting abuse

To report a business you believe is misusing Garmel, contact [email protected].
